Have you ever wondered if chiropractic can help you?
Many have had this question when they arrive for their new patient appointment. Sometimes they have already tried pain medication, Tylenol, muscle relaxers, stretching, massage, pain management injections, and the list goes on to different treatments out there. These may help to cover up symptoms and alleviate pain, but too often the cause is left undiagnosed and untreated.
Check this out….one week ago we had a teenage boy come into our chiropractic office with years of arm weakness, shoulder pain, numbness and tingling in the wrists, inability to use hands very much. In fact, it caused pain to write with a pencil during school and he was unable to carry his instrument during marching band performances. He had undergone all sorts of medication, seen the family doctor, neurologist, rheumatologist, and received multiple x-rays and MRIs. After a chiropractic examination and x-rays, some misalignment in the spine was apparent in the neck and upper back. These are the areas where the nerves going down the arms and to the hands are located. After 2 adjustments this young man already feels much better! He was able to hold his own instrument during band competition and all without pain pills or medication.
Many believe chiropractic care is just for back pain, neck pain, headaches, sciatica, muscle soreness and whiplash. Although these are very common conditions we see, chiropractic is really about treating the whole person and bringing balance to the spine and entire body. When this happens, the spinal cord and nerves can function optimally which often has side effects of better sleep, more energy, better digestion, reduced allergies and a stronger immune system. These are many of the things we get to see happen daily. In this young man’s case, it is a true pleasure to watch someone return to health!

I was asked why I decided to become a chiropractor and wanted to write about it. When I was in college I wanted to help people be healthy and live a wellness lifestyle, not just treat sickness. Every chance I got to go job shadowing and speak to healthcare professionals and see what they did, it was always disappointing. I saw medical doctors having to convince sick people to take their pills or giving them a new prescription to try and see how it worked. It was an eye-opener and something that did not motivate me. My professor invited her chiropractor into our class to tell about what he did and teach us about prevention and wellness. I’ll have to admit that at first I thought what I’m sure some of our brand new patients think at first- that it’s kind of weird! My parents then started to go to a chiropractor for the first time and saw great results with their back pain, neck pain and plantar fasciitis. I decided to get a job with a local chiropractor and that is where I got to see the amazing results of chiropractic care all day every day while at work. It didn’t take long to know that this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Since then, I have never regretted going to chiropractic school and into practice. My family and extended family have benefitted from getting regular adjustments, quality nutritional supplements and raising a healthy family naturally.

Most patients start coming in because of a pain…back pain, neck pain, headache, migraines, sciatica, shoulder pain, numbness, tingling, hip pain, rotator cuff, whiplash after a car accident, sports injury, etc! But after feeling better, many continue with wellness care so that they stay better, but that is up to you. Our job is to tell you what’s wrong and if we can help you, it’s your job to decide if you want us to help and how much of the care you want.
If you are in the Kyle, Buda, or San Marcos TX area and want to see a chiropractor, give us a call at 512-405-0400.
