How to Find a Good Chiropractor -Kyle, Buda, San Marcos

How to Find a Good Chiropractor -Kyle, Buda, San Marcos

Chiropractic is the world’s #1 natural healthcare option aka “alternative” medicine. In all reality, it is not medicine of any kind since chiropractors do not prescribe prescription medication or surgery. When there is a need for these, we refer out to the appropriate medical specialist. Many people can treat their musculoskeletal problems like migraines, headaches, low back pain, neck pain, sciatica, numbness, tingling, disc bulging and others with chiropractic if they only knew about it.

There are many different styles of treatment in chiropractic and this can cause confusion for people. They might have been used to one chiropractor and relocate to another town and find a local chiropractor only to be surprised when the treatment method is very different. This is one obstacle that keeps some from utilizing chiropractic care for their health and wellness needs for the long-term. When a friend from out of town or a patient moves far away and asks for a recommendation, I literally have to research their websites and sometimes make a call to find one that I would personally recommend for them, to make sure they are in good hands.

I’ve decided to list a few good qualities to look for when searching for a chiropractor
#1- X-rays taken in the office. Most people should receive clearance through a thorough examination and x-rays before getting a spinal adjustment. A physical exam may suffice some of the times, but all too often the x-rays uncover hidden issues that the chiropractor and the patient would have never known had the x-rays not been taken. I’ve seen things on the x-rays many times that would have never been found without them. Offices that don’t have the convenience of x-rays onsite usually skip them due to convenience.
#2- Variety of treatment techniques. Over the years one thing I’ve learned is that no two people are alike. To go along with that, no two spines are alike either. One method of spinal adjustment may get rid of your headache, while the next patient may need a very different technique to feel the results. A chiropractor should be able to deliver a variety of technique styles in order to fine tune things along the way throughout your treatment. Many people avoid chiropractic because they are afraid of hearing the “pop” or getting their neck “cracked”. There are many ways to still benefit from chiropractic and not have to feel the “pop”.
#3- Post-graduate education. To become a chiropractor you have to complete your undergraduate degree and then complete four years of chiropractic college. It’s a doctorate level degree. It’s tough and difficult. That being said, the learning should never stop. Research never stops, new developments in science and healthcare and the education of your chiropractor should never stop. Look for one that goes after post-graduate certifications and attends educational seminars regularly.

#4- Word of mouth referral. While it’s important to have information readily available, it’s even more important for the locals to speak well of the doctor and their office. Nothing replaces good old fashioned just taking care of people! Most of our patients come from Kyle, San Marcos and Buda and we certainly do our best to give great results and to be well-spoken of throughout the community and other local businesses.

What is that nerve pain causing numbness and tingling down my leg? -Chiropractor near Kyle, Buda, Wimberley, San Marcos TX

What is that nerve pain causing numbness and tingling down my leg?  -Chiropractor near Kyle, Buda, Wimberley, San Marcos TX
One day you wake up and notice a pain for the first time.  It’s not the usual back pain as you’ve grown accustomed to a backache now and then, but this one feels different.  It’s as if the leg is asleep due to numbness or has a tingling sensation to it.  You start to wonder what is causing this. Ever have this happen to you?
Numbness and tingling down the leg is referred to as sciatica.  It occurs when there is pressure on one of the nerves that goes down the leg.  All of the nerves traveling down the leg start on the spinal cord in the low back (lumbar spine) and branch off into different cords that travel to different areas of the leg.  These nerves are what send messages to all of the structures down the leg from the brain to communicate.  When there is misalignment in the spinal bones of the low back this can cause a pinched nerve by putting pressure on the nerve itself, creating the numbness or tingling sensation.
When the spine is in proper alignment and the motion of the joints is moving well, you are much less likely to have pressure on the sciatic nerve or any other nerve pain.  Other factors that can put pressure on a nerve are the discs.  A bulging disc or herniated disc can also put pressure directly on a nerve.  They can also create low back pain or neck pain, and other symptoms.
Try chiropractic care to see the results for yourself!  We see many people come in with sciatica and similar symptoms.  We see many others for problems like whiplash after car accident, sports injuries, pregnancy pains, neck and back pain and more.

Chiropractors Are Not Just Back Pain Doctors! –Near San Marcos, TX

Chiropractors are not just back pain doctors! Browning Family Chiropractic & Wellness is located in Plum Creek (Kyle, TX).

Have you ever wondered if chiropractic can help you?

Many have had this question when they arrive for their new patient appointment.  Sometimes they have already tried pain medication, Tylenol, muscle relaxers, stretching, massage, pain management injections, and the list goes on to different treatments out there.  These may help to cover up symptoms and alleviate pain, but too often the cause is left undiagnosed and untreated.

Check this out….one week ago we had a teenage boy come into our chiropractic office with years of arm weakness, shoulder pain, numbness and tingling in the wrists, inability to use hands very much.  In fact, it caused pain to write with a pencil during school and he was unable to carry his instrument during marching band performances.  He had undergone all sorts of medication, seen the family doctor, neurologist, rheumatologist, and received multiple x-rays and MRIs. After a chiropractic examination and x-rays, some misalignment in the spine was apparent in the neck and upper back.  These are the areas where the nerves going down the arms and to the hands are located.  After 2 adjustments this young man already feels much better!  He was able to hold his own instrument during band competition and all without pain pills or medication.

Many believe chiropractic care is just for back pain, neck pain, headaches, sciatica, muscle soreness and whiplash.  Although these are very common conditions we see, chiropractic is really about treating the whole person and bringing balance to the spine and entire body.  When this happens, the spinal cord and nerves can function optimally which often has side effects of better sleep, more energy, better digestion, reduced allergies and a stronger immune system.  These are many of the things we get to see happen daily.  In this young man’s case, it is a true pleasure to watch someone return to health!

Kyle, TX Chiropractor Treats Sciatica, Hip Pain, Leg Pain, Numbness, Tingling, Pain

One question that I occasionally hear is: Can you treat sciatica?  The answer is usually YES!  Radiating pain down the leg  resulting in numbness or tingling is usually referred to as sciatica. Sometimes this is coming from the actual sciatic nerve and sometimes it is coming from one of the lumbar nerve roots as it branches off the spinal cord in the low back.  Either way the process is usually the same.  When pressure is placed on the nerve, causing pain, numbness, tingling, weakness, hot/cold sensitivity, these are all nerve symptoms.  The #1 cause of these nerve symptoms is improper alignment in the low back portion of the spine. Misalignment can cause pinching, irritation or squeezing on the nerve which will eventually result in the symptoms associated with sciatica.  Chiropractic care can help with sciatica.  In fact, most days we see a couple of patients with sciatica.
After spinal misalignment, the next most common cause is muscles pressing the nerve and duplicating the same sciatic-like pains. Chiropractors can also help in this situation by improving joint alignment, reducing the muscle spasm or tension, and recommending the correct stretches to help the pain.
The third most common cause of sciatica is a bulging disc.  Disc bulging is very common and sometimes the bulge is just pressing onto the nerve passing by resulting in the familiar numbness and tingling.  Disc spaces can be evaluated on x-ray by a chiropractor and this condition can be resolved in most people.
Sciatica can also be associated with low back pain, hip pain, leg pain and other problems.  If you would like to see if chiropractic care can help you give our office a call at 512-405-0400.  You can read more about us at  http://www.browningfamilychiropractic.com/

Kyle, TX Chiropractor Helps With Neck Pain, Back Pain, Headache, Migraine, Whiplash, Car Accident, Pregnancy, Children, Wellness

Top 5 Reasons to See A Chiropractor Today!

#1- Neck Pain or Back Pain. This is the most popular reason that most seek chiropractic care in the United States.  Americans are sick and tired of covering up the problem with pain medication, pain injections, and surgery, especially since there is no guarantee with any of these! In fact, chiropractic treatment has been shown as the most effective treatment for back pain in numerous studies, beating out physical therapy and pain medicine.  Kyle, TX chiropractor Dr. Ryan Browning teaches patients about getting out of pain and then staying well by preventive measures. When the cause of neck pain or back pain is identified and eliminated, you will feel better because the actual problem is fixed.

#2- Headaches or Migraines.  I get asked at least once a week if chiropractic can help with headaches and the answer is YES! This is also one of the top reasons that new patients come into the office. When the spinal structures in the neck do not have good alignment or are putting pressure on the nerves in the neck they will often result in headaches. Muscle tension in the neck can also hinder the normal joint motion in the cervical spine (neck). Chiropractic is a simple way to reduce nerve pressure, improve joint motion, decrease muscle tension and allow the neck to function like it should.

#3- Whiplash from a Car Accident. Anyone that has been involved in a car crash should be checked by a chiropractor, regardless of pain. Many do not feel the neck pain or low back pain immediately and allow scar tissue to develop later on, thus making it worse when you have pain later on.

#4- Pregnant Women and Children. Pregnancy can be a doozy to the spine and create all sorts of aches and pains, including numbness and tingling (Sciatica), muscle tension, and misalignment of the lower back, pelvis, and hips. Chiropractic care can safely and gently return everything to its proper alignment. Children can also benefit greatly by maintenance chiropractic care. If your child ever complains of pain or headache, seek out a local chiropractor shortly. Children should not have pain. By resolving the problem quickly you will be saving them from a lifetime of the same problems that you are having with your spine!

#5- Wellness. Most Americans think about their health once it is gone. Chiropractic care along with basic nutrition and exercise can make a world of difference for you and your family. Don’t wait until you have a big problem, consult with a chiropractor today to see about staying well!
